ID160: Kitchen and Bath Design I

Course Duration: 15 Weeks
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of modern kitchen and bath design. Students will learn about the pros and cons of different kitchen and bath layouts, floor plans, and the various tradeoffs of each. Students will study different kitchen and bath components such as cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, countertops, and backsplashes, and learn about different levels of quality, style and performance. Students will be introduced to modern appliances for various budgets and functionality. Hardware and accessories will be studied including door/drawer pulls, vent hoods, and sinks/vanities. Students will also learn about specialized lighting techniques and fixtures for task purposes or to create a desired visual effect. Students will also learn about different trends, design styles, and features of modern kitchens and baths. They will reinforce their learning by complete a full kitchen or bath design using SketchUp® software.
