ID120: CAD & Space Planning

Course Duration: 15 Weeks

This course will introduce students to Computer Aided Drafting using SketchUp® software. Students will be introduced to the software interface, tools, commands, and shortcuts in order to create drawings to communicate visual design ideas. Students will learn how to create 2-dimensional scaled drawings, floor plans, and elevations using SketchUp. Students will also learn how to create and interpret common construction documents used in the design process. Students will understand the basics of residential space planning, including furniture placement, important dimensions, codes and standards. Students will reinforce these skills by working on a residential drafting project that illustrates these concepts.
