ID006: Modern Architecture and Contemporary Furniture

Students will learn about movements in architecture from the 19th century to present, along with the subsequent development and changes in furniture styles. Material covered includes the works of major architects and designers of the 19th and 20th centuries that influence modern interior design. Students will learn to recognize and identify contemporary furnishings, including the architects and movements with which they are associated. A student’s understanding and appreciation of contemporary furnishings completes the repertoire of historical styles and serves as inspiration in the application of interior design motifs. *Expectation of outside class work required.
