ID001: Fundamentals of Design

Fundamental elements and principles of design apply to every field of visual expression from sculpture, painting, and architecture, to modern concepts in Interior Design. Students will learn to recognize, evaluate, and discuss the principles and elements of design at work in various interior settings. Students will learn to evaluate the effectiveness of basic design elements in specific instances, leading to a comprehensive analytical approach to design. These fundamental concepts are used by professional designers as the building blocks of every design project and are crucial to evaluating design problems and finding elegant solutions. Students will learn tips and techniques on what specific characteristics make for great interior design spaces. *Expectation of outside class work required.
