Graphic Black & White

Graphic black and white prints are one of the most forthcoming interior design trends of the 2016 Fall season. Black has an amazing ability to ground a space while still adding interest and visual texture with geometrical design. If you’re ever looking for consistent inspiration from a designer who uses this trend in so many spaces, look no further than Kelly Wearstler. Pillows and other soft goods are a great way to add graphic black and white prints to your room, and so is wallpaper! Accent walls are obviously fabulous, but how fun is this cabinet interior with a little pop?

Acrylic & Brass

There is something very fresh, young, and Jonathan Adler-inspired about mixing acrylic and brass. With so many ways to have these materials in your home, it’s difficult to not see this trend taking off even further this Fall! Drapery rods are a favorite, as well as furniture, lighting, and hardware is an easy choice, of course! For a bright and light look, keep your color palette full of soft whites and creams; but if moody and chic is your goal, you cannot go wrong with dark blues and even black.

Terrazzo

Terrazzo is not new to the design scene, as it used to be an incredibly popular flooring selection and also has a historic quality to it; but terrazzo is now being integrated into more modern design — lucky for us! Terrazzo is simply described as chips of glass, mirror, marble, etc. that are suspended in a cement or epoxy base. The finish of the overall look is smooth and great for high-traffic areas — it is amazingly delicate-looking but durable. Terrazzo provides beautiful visual texture to a space and speaks an ornate simplicity. Think outside of the box with this material with backsplashes, showers, and, of course, countertops!

Iridescence

As it turns out, come this Fall, iridescence is no longer just for cosmetics and party-planning accessories — it’s now trending for home design, too! You don’t have to go crazy with full-on architectural details like the photo above to invoke this trend in your own home (although how beautiful is that?!). Lighting is an obvious choice, but so is furniture, tableware, and objet d’art. And pillows! A slight iridescence on throw pillows adds great interest, dimension, and texture.

Soothing Hues

The upcoming Fall season is bringing its own take on color along with it. Expect tranquil, but optimistic hues that are a mix between subdued and vibrant. Blue shades are trending to dominate this Fall’s home design, as well as muted earth tones bringing warmth and reassurance to any space. As always, these trends can be showcased on a small or large-scale — accessories, artwork, furniture, paint. Throw pillows are always a favorite way to inject possibly trendy colors into an interior!

Throwback Leather

Another trend that is being foreseen for Fall 2016 is being labeled “Throwback Leather”. This is the perfect case of a “same-olds made new” situation — where retro designs meet refreshing modern ideas and innovation. Metal accents, button-tufting, all of that is “now” again with mid-century modern vibes being the It-Girl of interior design inspiration these days.

Laid-Back Luxe

We’re halfway through the summer, which means from a trend perspective it’s all about looking forward to the next season! A trending style that we will be seeing a lot of in the coming months is ‘Laid-Back Luxe.’ This theme is all about mixing metals, adding that luxurious vibe while keeping spaces casual. The look can be achieved by adding metal elements to wood, stone, and other organic materials using both inlays and ornamental accents. This is a style that is truly rooted in clean lines with key accent pieces — keeping everything about the space warm and inviting!
