When creating a color palette, never choose a combination of more than three colors as they tend to make the interior look too busy. When using a triad color scheme, break the colors into the 60-30-10 rule for a cohesive look. 60% dominant color, 30% sub-dominant color, and 10% accent color. Accent colors create contrast due to variation of hue, intensity, or saturation.
